July 2016 Happenings

The month began with family coming in from out of town. It was a lot of fun to have them here. They came in for my brother, Josiah's mission farewell. I was really impressed with his confidence as he gave his farewell talk. It was enjoyable to see so many great people come out and support him for Sacrament meeting as well as for his open house that evening.

We celebrated the Fourth of July at my sister, Jessica's house. We had a nice barbecue followed by dessert and fireworks. It was a bittersweet celebration as Josiah would be leaving on the 6th to report to the MTC. The following day on the 5th we enjoyed a nice family dinner before Josiah was set apart as a missionary. That was a wonderful event to be able to attend. On the 6th we drove Josiah to the MTC. Before doing so we stopped beforehand so that we could say bye. He hugged me and told me to say hi to Samuel for him (when he is born).

We saw Finding Dory as a family and enjoyed it.

I had another doctor appointment for Samuel. He is measuring right on, and his heartbeat is 136. This appointment included the glucose test. My results came back high so I had to take the three hour test. Two of my readings came back high for that test. So I've been advised to watch my carb intake. It's not a super fun thing to do, but I have lost weight as a result of having to do so.

As a family we were able attend one of the concerts in the park that Midvale City hosts. We had a really nice time, and Alison even won a raffle prize.

I made sure Joe took the 25th off so that he could be home to celebrate Pioneer Day with us. We made a lot of use out of our Dutch Oven to celebrate. We made monkey bread for breakfast, Dutch Oven Sprite Chicken for dinner, and had my family over for Dutch Oven Cobbler. It's a fun tradition. That evening we went to Jess' for fireworks.
