So this past week marked what has become my annual birthday/Mother's Day trip for Mom.
Monday, the 25th we stopped for breakfast at IHOP and made a few stops before heading to St. George.
It was really nice because we were able to check in at our hotel, get things settled, and relax a bit before heading to the Tuacahn. Dad's cousin and Mom's good friend, Teresa met us at the hotel to chat for a bit before heading out. We decided to do the backstage tour and preshow dinner with the show of Aladdin. The show was truly magical, and I would definitely see it again. So if anyone is looking for a tag along, let me know. :)
Over the course of the evening, Mom started not feeling well as she had a sick stomach. So we ended up cancelling horseback riding the next day. Luckily, there was a waiting list preventing being charged and having to figure our another time to come up and use a rain check. We made a stop by Kmart where I snapped this gem of a picture. I think she really wants to be a cowgirl.
Then, we were on our way to Silver Reef Ghost Town. It was fun to explore and think about what it may have looked like in the good ole' days. It provided for some great photo opportunities. It was funny because it was on this trip that I found that I looked at pictures of myself in a different light. I actually looked at pictures of myself and liked them. I guess that's what losing weight can do for someone.
By this time, my stomach was not feeling well. We went back to the hotel for a bit before heading back out to make a Walmart and dinner run. We picked up ham and cheese p'zones from Pizza Hut. Then, we lounged around and watched a movie at the hotel.
Wednesday allowed for a trip to the St. George temple to do initiatory. It truly is a gorgeous white building amongst all the red rock.
After the temple, we grabbed lunch and were on our way to Park City.
It was nice to get away from the heat of St. George. Note that this is before the hottest part of the day.
We made an unplanned stop at the Young Living Family Farm. It is home to fields of lavender in addition to other plants. It also allowed for some more fun photo opportunities.
We got up on Thursday and took our time getting ready before we went shopping. We walked around the Park City Outlet Mall. We were supposed to do a helicopter ride that evening, but with not feeling well, we decided to reschedule. We stopped at Walmart, Sizzler for dinner, and Shopko before surprising the kids with an early arrival home.
It truly was a great break from reality despite being sick. Luckily, we never got "sick", but our stomachs ached, and we really didn't have much of an appetite for anything. We ate out of necessity more than a desire. We ate more chicken, bread, and fries than anything to try and keep our stomachs settled. There is a part of me that thinks that not feeling well forced us to take it as more of a laid back vacation. We still had a lot of fun, shared laughs, and enjoyed talking. Mom, I love you, and thank you for letting me take you along!
