March 2015 Happenings

Still working on catching up....

March is kind of a crazy month for us. Within the span of 16 days we celebrate three of our birthdays. I grew up in a family where birthdays are a big deal. So I'm trying to keep this tradition alive in my own family now. My vision is that of a homemade dinner of choice the Sunday before your birthday, decorate the house for your birthday, donuts for your birthday breakfast, a church related gift of some sort, and we take that individual child out on their actual birthday by him/herself for dinner. Then on even years, they may have a friend party, and on odd years they have a family party.

Joe's birthday was on the 10th. We celebrated with dinner out a favorite Chinese restaurant. Then we had family over for cake and ice cream. I enjoyed celebrating the day that he was born.

Just a few days later, my birthday celebrations began. On Pi day, I made chicken pot pie for dinner along with chocolate cream pie for dessert. The kids had a nice meal as Joe surprised me with a birthday date. We went to sushi and saw Cinderella. It was a nice treat. Then on my birthday, March 16th, we went to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen and went home to have some family over for birthday dessert of brownies and ice cream.

On St. Patrick's Day we made corned beef and cabbage. It was pretty good.

We found a place to move into. We were pretty excited to have our own place now. So we started slowly moving our things in and getting things organized.

We had Alison's family birthday celebration earlier in the month with Disney on Ice. On the day of her birthday, March 26th, she had a scavenger hunt to find her gifts. Then we went out to dinner at Golden Corral. We came home to enjoy turtle cupcakes and ice cream. This girl has an obsession with turtles.
